Sewing since age 15 (Self Taught)
Stay at home Mommy
Married to high school sweetheart for 5 yrs
3 beautiful children - Mirella 16, Tori 10, and Christian 5.
1. What businesses do you and/or your family run?
I founded Baby Bee’s Boutique, an online baby boutique featuring super cute one of a kind gifts for Mommy and Baby. All items are handmade by yours truly.
2. What made you decide to work from home?
I was already a stay at home Mommy and one day decided to put my sewing skills to work. I had been sewing for years for my own children and was constantly stopped and asked “Where did you get that?” Making things for my own children turned into a successful business for me today.
3. What kind of support have you gotten from your community?
My family supports me very deeply. Word of mouth, handing out business cards whenever the opportunity arises or my nieces and nephews wearing and using all of the cute products promotes my baby line. What’s better than using the products first hand?
4. What sort of things does being self-employed allow you to do, for example, being involved in your child's life, school projects...etc?
I am lucky that I am able to be at every function my children have going on at that moment. From doctors appointments, dance, Girl Scouts, and so much more. My children don’t have to stay in daycare or at a babysitters house and I am truly blessed for that.
5. How do you feel your children see you as an entrepreneur? What things are they learning by watching you work?
My little ones help me a lot. They love being involved and see that I do something for children all over the world to enjoy and love. They help with packaging, trips to the post office and even are learning to sew themselves. I think it’s a skill everyone should know and love!
6. How is being a self-employed parent difficult? What sort of things (if any) would make your job easier?
Trying to manage a strict schedule and stick to it.
7. What would you most like for consumers to know about you and the businesses that you run?
Almost all of the items on my site are handmade by me. Alot of time and love go into preparing the items for your baby to use and cherish for years to come. All items are made with the highest quality materials on the market.
8. What are you most proud of as a parent?
I am the one who keeps my little family together. I am Mommy, taxi, drill seargent, and nurse. If it weren’t for me looking after them there would be utter chaos! I would do anything for them even when I am tired, been driving in the car for 4 hours and need a break, I love them dearly and would do again for them in a heartbeat. My kids are awesome and I have raised them well. They have manners, respect, and know how to behave in public. I get complimented on how well behaved they are all of the time. So I think this says a lot about ME, the person who is raising them. I am proud of them for being My Children!
9. Do you have any advice for other parents who are running their own businesses or want to?
Don’t give up. Don’t expect success overnight, it will come with time.
10. What was your favorite childhood toy?
Barbies!
